Good news! Mist has met all of the requirements to enter our breeding program (she is two years old, is clear of all conditions that the puppies can inherit as tested through a DNA panel, has passed her hip and elbow scoring, and has earned her Champion title). She was recently in North Carolina where she has been bred with a Champion sire (named Rave), and the veterinarian reports that the breeding went well. We will know in a couple weeks whether the breeding has produced a litter. Fingers Crossed!

As of March 2023, Mist has earned her Champion title, and is working on her Grand Champion title! We plan to have a litter this fall (2023), assuming that Mist's hip scores come back good. she has already passed her DNA testing. Please contact us via our Contact page if you would like to be placed on our mailing list for further updates.

The pups are now five weeks old, and growing fast. They are eating soaked kibble and Ceilidh is still allowing them to nurse, even with sharp teeth (she's a very good mom)! Had it not been for poor weather, there would be high resolution pictures added, but instead, I took some with my phone in their whelping house. See below. Click on each picture for a larger version.

On Friday, July 17, Ceilidh gave birth to seven beautiful pups. Sadly, three puppies did not survive. We are left with four thriving puppies. See their very early pictures (with identifiers) followed by two-week-old pictures. Mum and pups are doing well. We will post high resolution pictures of each pup soon. Please contact us concerning our Spring, 2021 litter. The sire will be Encore, and the dam will be Ceilidh. This is the same pairing that produced our last two litters.

We've been busy!
On Saturday, June 7, Ceilidh gave birth to three girls and two boys. Mom and pups are doing very well. The puppies have more than doubled in size since they were born. We have added some snapshots of the pups below. Soon we will add high resolution pictures.

Ceilidh has had her puppy count x-ray
We see five puppies clearly in her x-ray. We are hoping one more is hiding :-)
5/27/2020
Almost time for a puppy count
In one week, Ceilidh will go for an x-ray to see how many pups we can expect. We are very excited about this repeat pairing of Encore and Ceilidh. The previous litter has turned out so well!
3/23/2020
Time is getting near!
Ceilidh went for her first progesterone test on Friday. We use progesterone level testing to determine the optimum time to breed. The first test is to set a baseline, after which, we expect to see a slow rise, then a quick rise, which indicates it's time. We hope to have a mating sometime in the next two weeks. Think happy puppy thoughts!

New Litter Announcement
We are planning a spring litter! This will be a repeat pairing of Ceilidh and Encore. The previous litter produced outstanding pups, and we are looking forward to another great bunch. See the most current pictures below for Ceilidh and Encore's offspring. The pups should be ready to go to their new homes in June. Please use the Contact Us form, or call (phone number is on the Contact Us page) for more information. The sooner, the better. There is significant interest in this litter.
Cheers,
Dave Thomas

The pups will be five weeks old next Monday. We have had a fun time taking pictures of the puppies. They are all doing well, and growing fast. Scroll down for the high resolution pictures , and be sure to click on each one for a full size image.
11/6/2019
The puppies have graduated from their whelping box to the x-pen that will be their temporary home until they go to their permanent homes. Scroll down to see pictures and a video of the puppies getting a snack of what will be their food (eventually with regular puppy food mixed in). It is goat's milk, yogurt, and egg yolks. They love it, and Ceilidh appreciates the break, because they are getting their teeth in now (ouch!) Be sure to click on each picture for a full size image.
This is the first litter we have had in our new whelping facility. It has worked out well, as Ceilidh can get the isolation she wants, the temperature can be maintained at an optimum range for her and the pups, and the household is not disrupted. Much less stressful!
10/30/2019
The pups eyes are open! They are getting big, and the fun is just starting. They will be able to climb out of the whelping box soon, and so we will be moving them to a puppy play pen. Please see the added pictures below. They identify the boys and the girls. You may have to click on each picture to see the gender annotation.
10/20/2019
Six beautiful puppies were born on October 14th! Now, almost a week later, mom and pups are doing extremely well. The pups are gaining weight fast and very vigorous. Ceilidh is an excellent mom. See below for pictures. As always, the first pics are phone snaps, but soon high resolution pictures will be posted. Click on any picture for a full size image.
9/24/2019
Ceilidh is doing fine, with the exception that she is upset about being put on restricted exercise :-) The litter is due on October 14, and about one week before that, we will have an x-ray to determine puppy count (the ultrasound we had earlier confirmed pregnancy, but is not a good determiner of puppy count).
9/4/2019
Having had a successful mating, we will be checking for pregnancy on September 10. The suspense is growing! If we do have pups, they will be ready for homing mid-December.
7/30/2019
Well... It seems Ceilidh is a bit behind coming into season. We have a regular checkup scheduled with the vet, and while we are there, we'll see if there is anything that is holding up the works. Stay tuned.
7/1/2019
Just a quick update to let you know that everything is still on-track for a breeding very soon. Ceilidh (Caylee) is showing signs of coming into season, but it may be another week or so. I had an opportunity to spend some time with Encore, our sire, at a show in Richmond on June 29th, and he is a very nice boy, with a great temperament. I will let you know soon how things are going. Keep your fingers crossed!
5/15/2019
We are on track for a litter of puppies in August of this year. We are excited to announce that the sire of this litter will be Grand Champion Bon-Clyde Script's Grand Finale (Encore)! Encore is owned by Bonnie Buchanan of North Carolina. You can see him on the Our Dogs page. The dam will be our girl Ceilidh (Caylee). Check back here for more updates.

We are planning to have a litter of pups on or around the middle of February, 2019! This will be a great pairing of our new AKC champion girl Ceilidh (Caylee) and a tremendous dog in Scotland named Bran. You can see Bran on our "Our Dogs" page. We are excited!
To avoid confusion, our puppies will be selected by prospective owners on a first come, first served basis along with breed specific qualifications. We pre-qualify our buyers based on their ability to meet the physical and mental needs of Border Collies. Any previous experience with the breed is helpful. After discussing the particulars with prospective owners, a small deposit in check form will hold your place on the waiting list. This provides us a dated paper trail.
Check back here for updates!

Just a quick update. Everything is still progressing toward a litter in February of 2019. Since Bran (the sire) is in Scotland, this will be an AI litter. Everything is currently in order and in place for the procedure, which will occur in mid December.
We are now scheduling meet and greets with potential buyers. If you are interested in a puppy, now is the time to contact us. Please use the "Contact Us" page on this website to write or call.
The excitement is building!

With just two weeks to go, Ceilidh is getting heavy with puppies. She is doing very well, but does not like being on restricted activity, and reminds us every day that she is a Border Collie with every bit the desire to run and work as ever. Her due date should be right on March 1st. Stay tuned to this page for updates and pictures! It looks like we will be breeding again in June of this year, for another litter in August.
3/14/2019
The puppies were born on February 26, 2019. We have three beautiful pups, a smaller litter than hoped for, but strong and healthy. This was our first foray into AI using frozen semen, and unfortunately, mistakes were made that reduced our opportunity for a larger litter. But, we have learned a lot! Next time, we will know so much more about the process and what to watch out for. The first group of pictures is from birth to two weeks old. They are gorgeous!

The excitement is growing as the time for the new litter approaches. We had "Meet the Parents" visits from two families over the weekend, and enjoyed our time with our prospective puppy owners. We encourage anyone that is considering a puppy from this litter to schedule a visit. Want to know what your puppies will be like? Get to know their parents!
11/15/2016
We have good news. Lorna went for her wellness checkup yesterday, and the vet confirmed that she is pregnant, and could feel at least five tiny puppies. We look forward to her delivery on or about December 17. About a week before she gives birth, we will have an X-ray done to confirm the count (although even with an X-ray, the count can be off - but it's usually pretty accurate). The whelping is only a month away. We are excited!
We also have another client visit scheduled for this weekend, so if you want to secure a place on the waiting list do so soon.

The puppies have arrived! Yesterday Lorna bore four puppies! The vet's estimate was off a bit, and sadly, two pups did not survive the birthing process. We are very excited to have four healthy vigorous puppies; three boys and a girl. We will post individual pictures soon, but you can see by the group shots that they are very handsome! Last Year's Litter
The long awaited event has finally happened! On Tuesday, September 10th, 2013, Lorna gave birth to two boys and one girl. All three are strong and vigorous!
