We are a family of musicians
No, that's not me to the left (more on that later). As well as being devoted to our dogs, and Border Collies in general, we, Dave and Donna, and our sons, Ryan and Christian, all share a love of music. We all went through college on music scholarships (how I met Donna), and Donna and Ryan both make their living in music, while Christian and I play, compose, and record for enjoyment. Our travels to Scotland not only provide great opportunities to be around Border Collies, but other musicians too! Sitting in at pub sessions, and even playing and singing at the beautiful Crathie Kirk, with HRH the Queen in attendance. Donna directs a large community choir, and each year, she does a Christmas program called A Celtic Christmas. That brings me to fellow in the kilt. His name is Paul Anderson. He and his wife Shona hail from Tarland, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Each year, he, his wife, and their two sons come here to Norfolk, VA to perform in the Christmas program. Paul is a prolific composer, and In 2019 he wrote a fiddle tune dedicated to us. We have titled it Holly Creek Waltz. Along with Paul, Donna plays piano, Ryan plays penny whistle, and I play guitar, banjo, and bass. The video on the bottom is a song written for our first Scottish import, Lorna Doone. If you go to YouTube and search intlplaza (my account name) you will find 20 or so videos. I hope you enjoy this recording along with a photo tour of some of the places in Scotland that we have visited. Cheers! Dave Thomas |
